Rumen Slavkov, M.D.
Psychiatrist & Medical Director
Dr. Slavkov is a board certified psychiatrist who has a passion for helping children be happy and healthy. He has been practicing medicine for over 30 years. He attended medical school at Charles University in Prague. He completed an infant psychiatry fellowship at Tulane University School of Medicine at their Institute of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health. He also completed a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Bronx Children's Psychiatric Center. Dr. Slavkov is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Emily Dauner, ARNP
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
I am a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner educated at the Ohio State University with my Master’s of Science in Nursing and also completed a child and adolescent mental health fellowship. I received my Bachelor’s from University of Kentucky College of Nursing where I found my passion for working with children. I began working as a nurse in Columbus, OH following graduation from UK and have been working full-time throughout my Nurse Practitioner program.
I love having the opportunity to provide direct patient care and serving as a provider that can help those around me. I am a passionate lifelong learner, always looking forward to new opportunities to develop as a nurse practitioner. Forming strong, trusting relationships with patients is just one of the many rewarding aspects of my position. I am looking forward to utilizing my nursing background in building strong therapeutic relationships with patients and their families.
I will be new to the West Coast and I am really looking forward to experiencing the city of Seattle with my husband and beautiful Great Pyrenees dog named Margot. We fell in love with the city while visiting my brother who lives in Capitol Hill and knew this was the place for us. We love hiking and exploring dog friendly restaurants together in our free time.
Christie de Langen, LMHC
Psychotherapist & Clinical Supervisor
Christie is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in work with children, teens and families. Christie earned her undergraduate degree in Counseling from Asbury University in Kentucky and her Master's degree in Community Counseling at Regent University in Virginia. She also has extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Health through the University of Washington.
Christie has worked as a therapist in residential and in-patient settings providing care to children and families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders, and behavioral difficulties in their home environment. She has worked with adolescents experiencing mental health crises in a hospital setting. Most recently, Christie has worked in outpatient clinics as a Child Mental Health Specialist providing therapy to children, teens and families.
Emily Hoegberg MA, LMFT
Emily is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in treatment for adolescents and families. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Northern Arizona University and her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego. She is licensed as an MFT in Washington and California.
Emily has experience in working with diverse populations and a wide range of ages with a special interest in helping resolve common challenges that teenagers face today. She has significant experience in treating substance abuse and the personal and familial issues that contribute to and result from the substance use. She has worked in residential and out-patient treatment settings focusing on the co-occurring disorders such as Depression, Anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress, Oppositional Defiance and ADHD. She provides individual, family and group therapy along with parent education.
Emily enters into new therapeutic relationships with a client-centered, strength-based and solution-focused perspective believing that each child, teen, young adult and family has the resiliency and innate ability to manage and overcome the challenges they are faced with. She loves the opportunity to bring that out in her patients and watch as they learn, progress and grow.
In her free time, Emily enjoys traveling the world, rooting for the Seahawks, snowboarding in the winter, and most of all spending time with family, friends and her adorable Beagle, Hunter.
Lisa Dean, MS, LMFT
Child and Family Therapist
Lisa Dean is a Child Mental Health Specialist and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She has been helping children improve their lives for over 15 years. Her focus is using a child-centered, strengths-based approach by using therapeutic play, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), therapeutic art, and family systems therapy in order to support new learning.
Lisa works with diverse families and children from many backgrounds. Her specialties include anxiety, depression, behavioral challenges, grief, trauma, and other childhood challenges. Therapy sessions may be booked for individual, family, and/or in groups.
When Lisa is not helping children and families, you can find her in the stands at a Sounders game. She loves Seattle sports in general and like a true native Seattleite, she love a good book with a cup of coffee.
Daphne Tu, PsyD
Child and Family Therapist
Daphne Tu currently holds a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate and just completed her doctorate in psychology. Originally from Taiwan, she is a multilingual clinician who is fluent in Taiwanese, Mandarin Chinese and English and also understands the role culture plays in mental health. She provides individual, group, family and couples therapy as well as psychological assessments and has more than 20 years of experience working with diverse individuals.
Dr. Tu has a special place in her heart for children, adolescents, and young adults. Specifically, she is passionate about young people who are facing various challenges at school or at home, and she strives to support them and their families through consultation and counseling as well as connecting them to appropriate services.
In her free time, Dr. Tu enjoys watching the TV show Iron Chef, eating and cooking good food, and spending time with family, friends, and the world’s cutest dog, her Shiba Inu.
Jennifer Daffon, PsyD, LMHC
Child and Family Therapist
Jennifer Daffon, MA, LMHC is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor working with children, adolescents, and families. She earned her Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University in 2006, her Master of Arts in Psychology from Antioch University in 2013, and is completing her Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology. She uses concepts from family systems, Rogerian, and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques in her clinical work. Jennifer believes that when working with children, family involvement can help facilitate dynamic change. Working collaboratively with clients, Jennifer strives to create shared goals and build skills to help them manage areas of concern. Jennifer enjoys using interactive techniques such as play therapy and sand tray interventions in her work with children. Incorporating play allows children to communicate their thoughts and feelings in a way that is familiar and instinctive; “Play is a child’s natural medium for self-expression” (Virginia Axline).
Jennifer has multiple years of experience working with children and adolescents in community mental health, residential care, and juvenile court settings. Her experiences have given her the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients who have diverse backgrounds and diagnoses. She is skilled with completing mental health assessments, integrative psychological assessments, and has significant training in evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT). Areas of clinical interest include: anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, attachment, and positive parent skills training.

Couples and Family Therapists
Brenda and Denny believe that couples can repair the distress that comes in times of disharmony and distance in their relationships, and they can learn how to restore and sustain intimacy between them. Their goal is to help couples create partnerships filled with cherishing and enjoyment of each other by joining together in building the unique and special relationship they want to live in together.
They offer a unique model of helping couples by working together as a co-therapy team. They begin their sessions by each meeting individually with one partner and conclude by meeting together with the couple. They also lead educational workshops for couples desiring to improve and enrich their relationships, and they provide extended, intensive sessions for couples living at a distance.
Brenda and Denny have been married to each other for over 40 years and have two amazing children and three awesome grandchildren. They have worked together with couples since 1978. Both received their Master's Degrees from Whitworth University. Brenda's Bachelor's Degree is from The Evergreen State College and Denny's is from Columbia University. Both are Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists and Mental Health Counselors, and they are Clinical Fellows in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. They also have over 25 years experience as graduate faculty members, teaching and mentoring therapists.

Kristin Mendoza, LMFTA
Child and Family Therapist
Kristin is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, specializing in work with children, adolescents, and families. Kristin earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Washington in Seattle and her Masters of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seattle Pacific University. She completed her professional internship at Westminster Chapel in Bellevue, counseling individuals and families, ages 6 to 50.
Kristin has a heart for journeying with her clients towards relational healing, restoration, and reconciliation. She specializes in relational and systemic work, utilizing a strength based, emotion focused therapy, and attachment lens. Kristin desires to encourage healthy development individually and relationally, in a calm, supportive way.
With her younger clients, she engages in play therapy to create a safe and enjoyable space for children to explore their emotions and shed light on the family system and behaviors. She has great experience with children, through counseling and play therapy with clients ages 6-12, as well as having worked as a pre-school teacher at Loyal Heights Community Center and behavioral specialist at Ryther Child Center.
In her free time, Kristin enjoys traveling, playing piano, reading fiction novels, watching Netflix, and going out to eat with her family and close friends.
Riley Cornett, LMHCA
Child and Family Therapist
Riley brings a positive attitude and works to get to know clients to build a trusting relationship so that they feel supported in developing shared goals as well as improving their coping and relationship skills
Riley’s favorite activities are softball, hiking, snowboarding, board games, going out to eat, and traveling as much as possible. He has been heavily involved in the community and has volunteered for numerous activities including coaching youth football, soccer, and wrestling. Riley’s decision to become a counselor arose while he was working as the head wrestling coach for Eastlake High School and was approached by student athletes in need of support.
